Fair Trade & conflict free Diamonds

Since the description Fair Trade is not and cannot be trade marked, it appears that as long as the spirit of the movment is captures, there may be a fair use of the label fair trade also when not certified as such. To date--no single source or brand has been officially certified as such. What should qualify as fair trade diamonds?
What may be seen as conflict free diamonds or ethical diamonds? Any opnions out there?
